This usually happens when two or more settings conflict with each other in a way that makes a mathematically fair lineup impossible. The most common combination is:
- GK rotation is on: one goalkeeper plays exactly one half in goal
- Playing in halves: meaning that GK uses up half their total game time in goal
- GK time counted as bonus time: meaning their GK half doesn't count toward their fair share of outfield minutes
The problem: if GK time is bonus, that player still needs a full fair share of outfield time on top of their half in goal, which would require them to play more than 100% of the game. That's not possible, so allPlay can't build a balanced lineup.
- Turn off GK time as bonus, so the goalkeeper's time in goal counts toward their fair share
- Switch from halves to quarters, giving more flexibility to distribute time
- Turn off GK rotation if you have a dedicated goalkeeper who always plays in goal
In general, if allPlay can't generate a lineup, try relaxing one setting at a time until it succeeds. The app will usually indicate which setting combination is causing the conflict.
Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not your device. If you've reinstalled the app, switched to a new device, or logged in with the same Apple ID on another device, you can restore your purchase at no charge.
If restoring doesn't work, make sure you're signed into the Apple ID that you used when you originally bought the unlock.
From the Roster screen, tap the + button to add a new player. Enter their name and optionally set position preferences, which tell allPlay which positions that player should be prioritized for during lineup generation.
Position preferences are per-game, so you can adjust them before generating each new lineup without affecting your base roster.
allPlay supports formats from 5v5 through to 11v11, covering the full range of youth recreational soccer. Within each format you can choose from a variety of standard formations.
If your league uses a specific formation not listed, get in touch. We'd like to know what's missing.
Once you've generated a lineup, tap Text PDF for a print-ready game sheet showing each period's lineup and substitution plan, or Field PDF for a visual field diagram. Both are generated on your device and can be shared via AirDrop, email, or printed directly.
Yes. After generating a lineup, tap Edit Lineup to fine-tune any period, position, or substitution. Changes you make manually are saved with the lineup.
If a player is absent on game day or you need to make a last-minute adjustment, you can edit directly without regenerating the whole lineup from scratch.
Tap Save Lineup on the lineup screen. Saved lineups appear under the Saved tab in the navigation bar, where you can review or reload any previous game's lineup.
All your data, including rosters, lineups, and settings, is stored locally on your device only. It is never uploaded to any server.
If you back up your device to iCloud or your Mac, your allPlay data will be included in that backup and will transfer to a new device through a normal restore. Deleting the app will remove all local data, so export any lineups you want to keep before uninstalling.
